Mark Stewart is Committees Manager at the British Geriatrics Society.
Each year, the BGS supports applications from its members for the annual Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA), which recognise and reward NHS consultants and academic GPs who perform ‘over and above’ the standard expected of their role, acknowledging personal contributions.
I’m writing to advise those of you planning to apply for the 2015 ACCEA that the deadline for seeking the support of the BGS is 5pm on Friday 8 May 2015.
Applicants should send all appropriate forms (available from the ACCEA website) to firstname.lastname@example.org before this deadline; we will not be able to accept any requests for support received after that time.
Applicants seeking the support of the BGS will need to be able to demonstrate how they have contributed to the charitable aims and strategic objectives of the society over a notable period of time; you are strongly advised to register for the awards as early as possible, to seek the support of the RCP in addition to the BGS, and to read the ACCEA guidance for applicants (available here) before beginning your application.
ACCEA considers applications from consultants and GPs employed in England and Wales only. Scotland and Northern Ireland run schemes unconnected to, but along similar lines, as ACCEA.
Please note that if you have any further queries or need advice at any stage of the process, you can contact me on 020 7608 8575 or email@example.com.
